Mauricio Jiménez (b. 1988, Santiago de Chile) is a visual artist and researcher whose work explores the reconceptualization of artistic praxis within the framework of planetary ecology and post-humanist futures. His research addresses the urgency of the Ecological Present, questioning how contemporary visual cultures can transition from anthropocentric extractivism toward a culture of radical reciprocity. Drawing on Cosmotechnics and the enactive biology of Maturana and Varela, Jiménez interrogates the role of technical mediation in our environmental crisis, inquiring new modes of "being-in-the-world" emerge once we dismantle the interface as a barrier and restore it as a site of symbiotic encounter? During his academic tenure (2013–2020), Jiménez reoriented his pedagogical work toward the design of inner exploration fostering educational models that emphasize awareness literacy through the sensible. His field investigations in the Chilean Patagonia and the Andes interactinv with indigenous cosmovisions not as historical artifacts, but living methodologies for a post-extractive future—one that recognizes the "Axis Mundi" as a necessary embrace for cultural production in dialog with planetary boundaries. Currently based in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, Jiménez proposes that the future of art lies in its capacity to function as a regenerative ritual, producing the conditions for a "Post-Humanist Belonging" rooted to an planetary ethos.
